“There is a Battle of Two Wolves Inside Us All
One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, lies, inferiority and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.
The wolf that wins? The one you feed.”
– Cherokee Proverb
I love this quote as it summarises a great aspect of my truth – what I have learnt, experienced and now share with clients all the time. What grows within us is only growing if it is fed. The same goes for our dreams, aspirations, hopes…and the negatives – fears and worries. We are constantly creating our reality with the thoughts we choose to think. Yes, it is always a choice. Thought patterns are habitual, and can be so deeply ingrained sometimes that we cannot imagine being another way. We think, “that’s just the way I am”.
It is absolutely possible to change the way you think, and hence, they way “you are”! This is the first step in changing your reality. Often, as humans, we find change uncomfortable. We don’t like it. We’re not used to it. We are habitual creatures. But with a little determination, positivity, and nurturing of that which we want to cultivate – we can do it. Think about it – a well fed wolf will surely win in battle against a starving, weak wolf. The starving wolf will eventually die. That which we do not feed, cannot survive; that which we feed, will thrive.
